For a Christmas gift this year, we decided to forego all the unnecessary stuff we usually buy one another and take a family trip skiing and snowboarding. We headed up to Durango Mountain over the long holiday weekend (MLK day) and had a great time!

Trey and I had one full day of skiing on our own - all at the low, low cost of lessons for both girls (in which they didn't really learn much). Paige took ski lessons and promptly informed us at the end of the day that she could only ski on one ski. Huh? We discovered very quickly that all she really wanted to do was to go down the hill straight and at full speed and then ride the chairlift up and do it again - she had absolutely no patience for long lift lines!

Bella took snowboarding lessons and quickly learned that most of snowboarding is done on one's behind! But she was a trooper and conquered a full run of the whole mountain on day 2 with some coaching from her brother (which proved to be more valuable then the actual paid for lesson).

The boys disappeared shortly after arriving at the slopes and spent every waking moment on their snowboards (hence, no ski pictures of them). Day 2 and Drew called me to tell me that he was going to ski the "bunny slope" with us...which meant something was wrong. He had fallen and hurt his wrist, but his brother and friend resourcefully wrapped it in some athletic tape and he was back at it...on his bottom (I knew there was a reason I didn't want to snowboard).

By day 3, Trey and I were feeling the pain and could barely move until we had our Aleve (geez, we're old) - while the boys were up for another 1/2 day of snowboarding. All-in-all we had a great time, ate some great food and hung out with our good friends The Currents and played cards. Good times!
